More "What the Bible Says About Money"

A poor man's field may produce abundant food, but injustice sweeps it
away. Proverbs 13:23

He who mocks the poor shows contempt for their Maker; whoever gloats
over disaster will not go unpunished. Proverbs 17:5

He who is kind to the poor lends to the LORD, and he will reward him
for what he has done. Proverbs 19:17

If a man shuts his ears to the cry of the poor, he too will cry out
and not be answered. Proverbs 21:13

He who gives to the poor will lack nothing, but he who closes his eyes
to them receives many curses. Proverbs 28:27

The righteous care about justice for the poor, but the wicked have no
such concern. Proverbs 29:7

If there is a poor man among your brothers in any of the towns of the
land that the LORD your God is giving you, do not be hardhearted or
tightfisted toward your poor brother. Rather be openhanded and freely
lend him whatever he needs. Be careful not to harbor this wicked
thought: "The seventh year, the year for canceling debts, is near," so
that you do not show ill will toward your needy brother and give him
nothing. He may then appeal to the LORD against you, and you will be
found guilty of sin. Give generously to him and do so without a
grudging heart; then because of this the LORD your God will bless you
in all your work and in everything you put your hand to. There will
always be poor people in the land. Therefore I command you to be
openhanded toward your brothers and toward the poor and needy in your
land. Deuteronomy 15:7-11

What the Bible has to say about money...

I'm about 3/4 of the way through reading "Atlas Shrugged", and I can't
help but notice how Ayn Rand's perspective seems to be the absolute
opposite of the God of the Bible's. I'm going to do more research on
how much of the Bible is spent talking about caring for the poor, but
here are a couple passages that came immediately to mind.

"Now this was the sin of your sister Sodom: She and her daughters were
arrogant, overfed and unconcerned; they did not help the poor and
needy."
Ezekial 16:49

" 1Now listen, you rich people, weep and wail because of the misery
that is coming upon you. 2Your wealth has rotted, and moths have eaten
your clothes. 3Your gold and silver are corroded. Their corrosion will
testify against you and eat your flesh like fire. You have hoarded
wealth in the last days. 4Look! The wages you failed to pay the
workmen who mowed your fields are crying out against you. The cries of
the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord Almighty. 5You have
lived on earth in luxury and self-indulgence. You have fattened
yourselves in the day of slaughter."
James 5:1-5
